Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France, Trump said, “We are not paying a dime. The United States is not investing in Iran, and there is no such fund.”
He added that Washington is also not asking Gulf countries to invest in Iran, although any such decision would be entirely up to them. According to Trump, Gulf states are unlikely to move forward without first assessing Iran’s behavior.
The US president clarified that the current understanding with Iran is not a final agreement but a memorandum of understanding (MoU). He warned that the deal remains conditional, stating, “If I don’t like it or if Iran does not behave properly, we could return to strikes and bombing.”
Trump further said that the framework with Iran is “very strong” and claimed it has already influenced global markets, citing a rise in stock prices and a decline in oil prices.
He also claimed that the Strait of Hormuz could reopen within one or two days, which would help normalize global trade and energy supply routes.
Reporter: It’s been reported the deal includes a 300 billion dollar fund for Iran.

Trump: No, it’s false. We are not investing. People can decide to do that, but it’s up to them.

On Iran’s nuclear program, Trump said he is “99.99% sure” that Iran will never obtain nuclear weapons. He also criticized the 2015 nuclear deal under former President Barack Obama, alleging that Iran received $1.7 billion in cash under that agreement.
Trump insisted that his administration has not offered Iran any financial incentives, saying negotiations are being pursued through pressure and a firm stance.
Talks between the US and Iran are ongoing, with further negotiations expected in the coming weeks on the nuclear program, sanctions relief, and regional security issues.
