The hours-long assault early Sunday targeted six districts across the capital, causing extensive damage to residential buildings, office complexes, industrial facilities, a dormitory, and several vehicles. Multiple fires broke out as emergency crews rushed to contain the destruction.

Rescue teams evacuated four people from a burning private house in Kyiv s Sviatoshynskyi district and saved residents trapped inside a three-storey building in the Shevchenkivskyi district. Authorities later recovered the body of one victim.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha condemned the strikes as a "brutal terrorist attack" on the capital and urged the international community to increase pressure on Moscow to end the attacks.

Elsewhere, Russian drone strikes killed one person in the Dnipropetrovsk region of central Ukraine. In the Zaporizhzhia region, a drone strike on a passenger train killed its conductor, according to Ukrainian officials.

Ukraine s Air Force said Russia launched 41 missiles overnight, adding that air defence systems intercepted and destroyed 18 of them.

Meanwhile, Ukraine claimed its forces struck two Russian oil tankers in the Black Sea as part of efforts to disrupt fuel and supply routes to Russian-occupied Crimea.

Separately, U.S. President Donald Trump said he is prepared to grant Ukraine licences to manufacture Patriot interceptor missiles domestically, although details and a timeline for the proposal have yet to be announced.

The Russia-Ukraine war has now entered its fifth year, with Russian missile and drone attacks on Kyiv intensifying in recent months amid Ukraine s continued struggle to strengthen its air defence capabilities.
