According to the foreign broadcaster Al Jazeera, in his article published in an international journal, Zarif said that although Iran considers itself successful in this war, prolonging the conflict will lead to further loss of life and destruction of infrastructure.

He suggested that Iran accept sanctions on its nuclear program under international supervision, which include a commitment to keep uranium enrichment levels below 3.67 percent and not to build nuclear weapons. In return, the United States should lift all sanctions and agree to open the Strait of Hormuz.

Zarif called the US demand for zero enrichment unrealistic and said the two countries should also sign a mutual non-aggression pact to prevent future attacks on each other.

He suggested that China, Russia and the US establish a joint uranium enrichment consortium in the region, while a regional security framework should be created by including Gulf countries, UN Security Council members and Pakistan, Turkey and Egypt.

On the other hand, Gulf countries have expressed reservations about the proposal. UAE presidential advisor Anwar Gargash said that Zarif’s proposal ignores Iran’s attacks on neighboring countries.

Former Qatari Prime Minister Hamad bin Jassim called the plan wise, but warned that war has made the region more complex and dangerous.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has given Iran a deadline for an agreement, while Pakistan, Turkey and Egypt are trying to hold diplomatic talks, but no major progress has been made so far.

According to experts, Zarif s roadmap provides a possible diplomatic path, but trust and serious negotiations on the part of all parties will be essential for its implementation.
