According to British media, during a hearing at the London High Court concerning the alleged breach of privacy, Prince Harry struggled to contain his emotions while giving his testimony and became visibly emotional.

Speaking in a choked voice, he said that the Daily Mail and its publisher, Associated Newspapers, had subjected his wife Meghan Markle to severe distress and suffering.

In his statement to the court, Prince Harry added that since filing the lawsuit in 2022, the media’s attitude toward him had become even more aggressive. He said that he had sought only an apology and accountability from the newspaper’s owners, but instead found himself being forced to relive the same painful experience all over again.

Prince Harry described the defense presented by Associated Newspapers as “abhorrent,” stating that he was being deprived of his fundamental right to protect his private life. He said that standing in court and confronting these events once again felt like reopening old wounds and re-experiencing the trauma.

Meanwhile, Associated Newspapers has rejected the allegations, claiming that its journalists obtained information from lawful sources, including individuals close to public figures.

However, Prince Harry firmly denied these claims, stating that he has never had any personal relationship with journalists.

The case is expected to continue for nine weeks at the London High Court. Actress Elizabeth Hurley is scheduled to testify on Thursday.

It is worth noting that the 41-year-old Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, along with six other claimants—including renowned singer Elton John—is pursuing legal action against the publisher of the Daily Mail. The newspaper is accused of unlawfully intruding into their private lives through practices such as phone hacking, covert surveillance, and deception to obtain information.
