Resuming the day at 7-0, the hosts lost both openers in the morning session but regained control through a steady partnership between Mominul Haque and captain Najmul Hossain Shanto.
Mominul remained unbeaten on 37 off 82 deliveries with three boundaries, while Shanto was batting on 34 from 57 balls, including four fours. The pair also completed an important 50-run stand to stabilise the innings.
Mohammad Abbas struck first for Pakistan by trapping Mahmudul Hasan Joy lbw for five, while Hasan Ali removed Shadman Islam for 10 after a brief resistance.
Despite the early blows, Bangladesh’s middle order batted patiently to guide the team past the 50-run mark and maintain control heading into the break.
Earlier in the match, Bangladesh posted 413 in their first innings after recovering strongly from 31-2. Mominul Haque scored 91, Najmul Hossain Shanto made 101, and Mushfiqur Rahim added 71 to put the hosts in a commanding position.
Taskin Ahmed also chipped in with a quick 28, while Litton Das contributed 33 runs.
For Pakistan, Mohammad Abbas was the standout bowler with figures of 5/92, while Shaheen Shah Afridi claimed three wickets.
In response, Pakistan were bowled out for 386, conceding a first-innings lead of 27 runs despite impressive batting performances from debutants Azan Awais and Abdullah Fazal, alongside Salman Ali Agha and Mohammad Rizwan.
Azan Awais top-scored with 103 on Test debut, while Abdullah Fazal made 60. Salman Ali Agha scored 58 and Rizwan contributed 59.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz led Bangladesh’s bowling effort with 5/102, while Taskin Ahmed and Taijul Islam picked up two wickets each.
