The company is collaborating with Foxconn, VinFast, Autobrains, Uber and HUMAIN to accelerate development of Level 4 autonomous electric vehicles across multiple regions.

Level 4 autonomy refers to systems capable of driving without human intervention within defined operational zones and conditions. NVIDIA’s platform combines in-vehicle computing, safety software and advanced sensor systems including cameras and radar to enable real-time decision-making in traffic environments.

Foxconn is expanding its partnership with NVIDIA to design and manufacture fully autonomous electric vehicles, with early deployment planned in Taiwan. Officials in Kaohsiung are reportedly upgrading infrastructure to support future robotaxi fleets, with initial commercial services expected around 2028.

The first phase of Foxconn’s rollout will focus on airport-to-city transport routes before gradually extending to connections with Taiwan’s high-speed rail network.

VinFast is also integrating NVIDIA’s robotaxi ecosystem through its collaboration with Autobrains. The company plans to manufacture vehicles designed for Southeast Asian markets, where dense traffic conditions require adaptable autonomous systems.

Executives at VinFast have said that autonomous mobility should be accessible beyond premium markets, with a focus on affordable electric vehicles suited for urban transport challenges in the region.

In Europe, Uber is working with Autobrains to launch a robotaxi pilot program in Munich later this year. The service will integrate into Uber’s existing ride-hailing platform, allowing users to book autonomous vehicles directly through the app.

Uber has not yet confirmed which automaker will supply the vehicles for the Munich pilot, with further details expected in the coming months.

Autobrains says its “Agentic AI” approach differs from conventional autonomous driving models by dividing driving decisions into multiple specialized systems designed to handle complex and unexpected road conditions.

By combining Autobrains’ software, NVIDIA’s computing platform and Uber’s mobility network, the companies aim to develop scalable autonomous fleets that can operate across different cities and vehicle types.

The Middle East is also emerging as a key focus area for deployment. HUMAIN is working to introduce DRIVE Hyperion-based robotaxis in Saudi Arabia, aligning with broader smart city development plans in the region.

Saudi Arabia’s investments in digital infrastructure and urban mobility are expected to provide a testing ground for large-scale autonomous transport systems integrating physical and AI-driven networks.

Industry analysts note that building robotaxis requires significantly more complex systems than standard electric vehicles, as they must combine mobility engineering with high-performance computing and real-time environmental awareness.

NVIDIA’s strategy is to provide a unified technological backbone so automakers and mobility providers can avoid developing full self-driving systems independently.

If successful, these initiatives could accelerate the shift from limited pilot programs to widespread autonomous public transport in major global cities over the coming decade.
