According to Iran’s state linked Fars News Agency acting Defence Minister Brigadier General Seyed Majid Ibn Reza said the country achieved major progress in its defence capabilities during the recent war.
The Iranian official stated that Tehran used new military strategies and advanced technological methods during the conflict which proved more effective than previous systems.
Brigadier General Majid Ibn Reza claimed that during the earlier 12 day conflict Iran had targeted fewer than five enemy aircraft. However he said Iran has now obtained technology that enabled it to strike around 210 enemy aircraft in the latest confrontation.
He further claimed that enemy officials themselves admitted Iran caused more than seven billion dollars in damages in this sector alone.
The acting defence minister also said that countering enemy stealth fighter jets had been a key priority for Iranian defence experts since the beginning of the conflict. According to him Iran developed technology within less than 10 days that can severely damage advanced warplanes including the F-35 fighter jet.
He added that Iranian defence operations reached a stage where shooting down enemy drones and aircraft had become a daily operation during the conflict.
Regional tensions increased after the United States and Israel launched attacks on Iran on February 28. Tehran responded with counter operations while global oil and gas shipments through the Strait of Hormuz were also affected.
Later on April 8 important talks between Iran and the United States were held in Islamabad with Pakistan acting as a mediator. The Iranian delegation was led by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf along with Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi while the American delegation was reportedly headed by JD Vance. However the talks ended without any major breakthrough.
