According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office spokesperson, senior delegations from the Islamic Republic of Iran, the United States, Qatar, and Pakistan will take part in the talks, which will be held in the Swiss resort town of Bürgenstock.
The negotiations are being described as the first formal high-level engagement between Iran and the United States since the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding on June 17, 2026.
The Foreign Office stated that Pakistan will continue to play a constructive facilitation role in supporting the implementation of the understandings reached between Tehran and Washington, while also promoting confidence-building measures and future progress.
The statement added that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif is expected to hold bilateral meetings with delegations from Iran, the United States, Qatar, and Switzerland on the sidelines of the talks.
These meetings are expected to focus on regional stability, peace, diplomacy, economic cooperation, and other matters of mutual interest.
Pakistan will also use the occasion to reaffirm its unwavering commitment to dialogue, the peaceful resolution of disputes, and the promotion of lasting peace and stability in the Middle East.
The Foreign Office further noted that Pakistan’s role as a facilitator during the recent regional crisis has been widely recognized internationally, highlighting Islamabad’s balanced, principled, and constructive foreign policy approach.

Pakistan not only hosted initial contacts and negotiations between Iran and the United States but also maintained sustained diplomatic engagement behind the scenes, efforts that ultimately culminated in the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
Observers believe that the Bürgenstock talks could prove crucial in translating the Iran-US framework into practical measures, particularly on issues related to the nuclear program, regional security, the Strait of Hormuz, economic sanctions, and ceasefire arrangements.
Pakistan’s participation is being viewed as another important sign of its growing role in promoting peace, dialogue, and diplomatic solutions in the region.
