During the fierce exchange of fire, Pakistan Army Major Adil Zaman embraced martyrdom while leading his troops from the front.

According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation was conducted on December 29 in the Khar area after credible intelligence confirmed the presence of militants. Acting swiftly and with clear purpose, security forces surrounded the hideout and launched a targeted operation.

ISPR stated that the troops responded with precision and courage, resulting in the killing of five militants. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from their possession. These militants were reportedly involved in several terrorist activities, including attacks on security personnel and the killing of innocent civilians.

During the operation, 36 year old Major Adil Zaman, a resident of Dera Ismail Khan, was martyred after being hit by enemy fire.

He was leading his team at the forward positions, showing calm leadership and fearless commitment under pressure. His sacrifice reflects the highest tradition of the Pakistan Army leading from the front and standing firm in the face of danger.

ISPR added that a clearance operation is ongoing in the area to ensure that no Indian sponsored militant remains active.

The military reaffirmed its resolve to continue counterterrorism efforts under the national vision of ‘Azm e Istehkam’, approved by the Apex Committee as part of the National Action Plan. The goal remains clear: to uproot terrorism backed by foreign elements and restore lasting peace.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces for the successful operation and lauded their bravery in neutralizing the militants. He paid heartfelt tribute to Major Adil Zaman, offered prayers for his elevated rank, and expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family.

The Prime Minister stated that the nation stands united with its armed forces in the fight against terrorism and will not rest until the country is free from this threat.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also commended the operation and paid glowing tribute to the martyred officer. He said Major Adil Zaman faced the enemy with unmatched courage and sacrificed his life to defeat hostile designs.

‘Such brave sons of the soil write history with their blood,’ he remarked, adding that the nation can never fully repay the debt owed to its martyrs and their families.
