According to the district administration, the spillways were opened at 6:00 a.m. under the supervision of the Assistant Commissioner Secretariat after the dam s water level reached the designated threshold of 1,747 feet.
Officials said the controlled release of excess water was carried out to prevent the reservoir from exceeding its safe capacity. Once the water level dropped to a safe level, the spillways were shut.

The administration said all relevant departments had been placed on alert before the spillways were opened. Personnel from Rescue 1122, police, the district administration, and other concerned agencies remained on-site to respond promptly to any emergency.
Authorities also maintained strict public safety measures during the operation. Police detained one individual for violating safety instructions by entering a drainage channel to bathe while water was being discharged.
The district administration urged the public to avoid rivers, streams, drainage channels, and other watercourses during the ongoing monsoon season, warning that water levels can rise rapidly and pose serious risks.
Officials said the situation at Rawal Dam is being monitored continuously, adding that immediate action will be taken if water levels rise again.
