According to a statement issued on Monday, the provincial education minister said the holidays will begin on May 22 and continue until August 23, giving students and teachers more than three months off.
The decision comes as Pakistan experiences intense heat, with temperatures expected to remain unusually high in the coming weeks.
Earlier, the Punjab Disaster Management Authority had warned of above-normal temperatures and rainfall across the province through July.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department also cautioned that several regions could face heatwaves, flash floods, urban flooding, windstorms, dust storms, and hailstorms in the coming months.
Weather experts warned that the changing conditions could damage seasonal crops, vegetables, and orchards due to strong winds and rising temperatures.
Last year, summer vacations in Punjab schools began on May 28 and were scheduled to end on August 14. However, the provincial government later extended the holidays until August 31 because of severe weather conditions.
