Addressing the oath-taking ceremony of newly elected Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Amjad Hussain Advocate, Bilawal accused India of attempting to use the Indus Waters Treaty as a political and diplomatic tool. He stressed that Pakistan would continue to defend its internationally recognized water rights through every available legal and diplomatic forum.

"Pakistan will never compromise on the Indus Waters Treaty. If our national interests are challenged, we will take every possible measure to protect our rights," Bilawal said. He described the treaty as a binding international agreement and reaffirmed that Pakistan would defend its legal and constitutional rights under the accord at all costs.

Tribute to the People of Gilgit-Baltistan

Bilawal praised the people of Gilgit-Baltistan for their unwavering loyalty and commitment to Pakistan, saying they have consistently stood by the country during challenging times and strengthened national unity.

He also paid tribute to former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, crediting him with introducing landmark reforms and development initiatives that significantly improved the rights and welfare of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan. The PPP chairman pledged that his party would continue pursuing Bhutto s vision by prioritizing infrastructure, economic growth, and public welfare across the region.

Focus on Development and Youth

Bilawal said the people of Gilgit-Baltistan had written a unique chapter in history by gaining freedom from Dogra rule and establishing their own identity. Referring to the recent elections, he said the public mandate placed a significant responsibility on the new government to deliver meaningful progress.

He pledged that the new administration would prioritize employment opportunities, quality education, healthcare services, and sustainable development, particularly for the youth, to ensure long-term prosperity in the region.

Call for Political Unity

Bilawal urged all political parties to work together in addressing Pakistan s national challenges and thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) for respecting the public mandate in Gilgit-Baltistan and cooperating in the government formation process.

He described the cooperation as a positive step toward strengthening democratic traditions. The PPP chairman also praised the professionalism and sacrifices of the Pakistan Armed Forces, stating that no conspiracy against Pakistan s security would be allowed to succeed.
