Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made the commitment during a joint press briefing in Istanbul after holding talks on bilateral relations and regional developments.
President Erdogan welcomed Prime Minister Shehbaz and his delegation, saying their discussions covered bilateral cooperation as well as regional and global issues.
"We always stand by each other," Erdogan said, expressing satisfaction over the progress in relations between the two countries.
The Turkish president praised Pakistan s role in promoting regional peace and welcomed the recently signed Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran, describing it as an important step towards global peace.
He said the leaders also discussed expanding trade, investment and broader economic cooperation.
Prime Minister Shehbaz thanked President Erdogan for the warm welcome and hospitality, saying Pakistan and Turkiye shared a deep and historic relationship.
He said Turkiye had always stood by Pakistan during times of conflict and natural disasters, reflecting the strength of the two countries friendship.
The prime minister highlighted his meetings with Turkish business leaders during the Pakistan-Turkiye Business Forum, saying both sides were committed to achieving the $5 billion trade target.
Earlier, while addressing the Pakistan-Turkiye B2B Conference in Istanbul, PM Shehbaz described Turkiye as Pakistan s sincere and reliable ally and recalled the historic bonds established during the Khilafat Movement, when Muslims of the subcontinent supported Turkiye s independence struggle.
He said Pakistan s role in facilitating dialogue between the United States and Iran had been possible due to President Erdogan s sincere support, adding that the ceasefire presented an important opportunity for lasting peace.
The prime minister also called for greater cooperation in Pakistan s reform agenda, particularly in the privatisation of power distribution companies and improvements to the electricity transmission system.
Referring to Pakistan s conflict with India in May last year, he acknowledged the support extended by Turkiye, Saudi Arabia and other friendly countries.
During the joint press conference, President Erdogan stressed that lasting peace in the Middle East could only be achieved with the support of regional countries.
He warned that Israel should not be allowed to undermine the United States-Iran peace agreement, saying the region should not be pushed back into conflict.
Erdogan added that Turkiye aimed to deepen cooperation with Pakistan in energy, transport, critical minerals, information technology and defence while working towards the shared goal of increasing bilateral trade to $5 billion.
