Chief of Defence Forces and Army Chief, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, is currently on an official visit to Libya, where he held high level meetings with the Commander in-Chief of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, Field Marshal Khalifa Belqasim Haftar, and the Deputy Commander in Chief, Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar.
According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), a smartly turned out contingent of the Libyan Armed Forces presented a Guard of Honour to Field Marshal Asim Munir upon his arrival, reflecting the warmth and dignity of the occasion.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, the evolving regional security landscape, and practical ways to deepen bilateral defence and military cooperation.
The discussions carried a forward-looking tone, focused on trust, stability, and long-term partnership.
The two delegations underscored the importance of cooperation in training, capacity building, and counter-terrorism, describing these areas as key pillars for strengthening institutional ties between the armed forces of both countries.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing defence relations with Libya on the basis of shared goals and common security concerns. He highlighted Pakistan’s belief in constructive engagement and professional collaboration.
Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar praised the professionalism, discipline, and operational experience of the Pakistan Armed Forces.
He also expressed Libya’s keen interest in expanding defence cooperation and building a closer working relationship between the two militaries.
The visit marks another meaningful step in reinforcing defence diplomacy and reflects Pakistan’s continued outreach to strengthen partnerships across the region.
