In a post on X, Dar said that 11 Pakistani and 20 Iranian seafarers are currently among those affected by the incident involving vessels taken into custody by US authorities.

He said Pakistan, through its Foreign Office and relevant institutions, is maintaining continuous coordination with US officials and other parties to secure the welfare and safe return of its nationals.

Dar added that he held separate telephone conversations with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Singaporean Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan as part of ongoing diplomatic efforts.

During his call with the Singaporean foreign minister, he sought assistance in facilitating the repatriation process and expressed appreciation for Singapore’s cooperation. In his discussion with Iran’s foreign minister, both sides agreed to remain closely coordinated on the matter, with Pakistan also offering to facilitate the return of Iranian nationals via its territory.

Officials say diplomatic engagement is ongoing as efforts continue to resolve the situation and bring the seafarers home safely.
