Addressing an election rally in Muzaffarabad alongside Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Sharif said he shares a deep emotional bond with the people of both Azad Kashmir and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
"If the people give PML-N victory in the Azad Kashmir elections, I will tell Shehbaz Sharif to make me the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir," he said, adding that he wanted to personally lead the region s development.
The former premier pledged to increase AJK s budget tenfold if the PML-N forms the next government, saying the region deserves the same level of progress and public services as Punjab.
He said his government would prioritise resolving the major issues facing the region and questioned why Muzaffarabad, despite being the capital, still lacked modern infrastructure such as a motorway.
Sharif proposed constructing a motorway along the Jhelum River, saying the project would improve connectivity, promote tourism and boost economic activity across the region.
Recalling his journey to Muzaffarabad, he said he had told Maryam Nawaz that the pace of development and public welfare initiatives currently underway in Punjab should also be replicated in Azad Kashmir so that its residents could benefit from similar modern facilities.
As part of his proposed development package, Nawaz Sharif announced that 10 green buses would be introduced to improve Muzaffarabad s public transport system, while 15 mobile hospitals would be launched to expand healthcare services in remote areas.
He also pledged to personally oversee the implementation of development projects if the PML-N comes to power, announcing that he would visit Azad Kashmir every three months to review progress, monitor the party s election manifesto and ensure that promises made to the public are fulfilled.
