The event marked not only the end of a major national sporting festival but also the formal handover of hosting duties for the 36th National Games to Punjab.

The ceremony was attended by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Sindh Minister for Sports Sardar Muhammad Bux Mehr, along with senior civil and military officials. The atmosphere reflected pride, celebration, and national unity.

While declaring the Games officially closed, Field Marshal Asim Munir announced that Punjab would host the next edition. On this occasion, the National Games flag was handed over to the Punjab Olympic Association, symbolizing continuity and shared responsibility.

Addressing the gathering, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari thanked the Field Marshal for honoring the event with his presence and expressed satisfaction over the successful organization of the Games. He said Sindh felt proud to host such a national event and emphasized that the National Games stand as a strong symbol of unity, harmony, and collective spirit.

Bilawal Bhutto also referred to Pakistan’s success in the ‘Battle for Truth’ in May 2025, stating that under the leadership of Field Marshal Asim Munir, the armed forces pushed back the enemy decisively.

He said the entire nation stood shoulder to shoulder with its brave forces, adding that Pakistani athletes once again proved they are second to none. According to him, Pakistan defended its sovereignty with confidence and resolve.

During the ceremony, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari presented Field Marshal Asim Munir with a traditional Sindhi ajrak and cap, along with an honorary shield.

The Sindh Chief Minister awarded a shield to Pakistan Police for outstanding performance, while Punjab received a special trophy from Bilawal Bhutto for its notable achievements.

Sindh Sports Minister Sardar Muhammad Bux Mehr, speaking on the occasion, called the hosting of the 35th National Games a matter of honor for the province. He shared that more than 11,000 athletes participated in the Games and highlighted that sporting activities help promote healthy and positive trends in society.

The Quaid e Azam Trophy of the National Games was won by Pakistan Army, which claimed the title for the 25th time with an impressive tally of 196 gold medals. Field Marshal Asim Munir presented the trophy himself. WAPDA secured second position with 84 gold medals and received the runners-up trophy, while Pakistan Navy stood third with 36 gold medals and was also awarded a performance trophy by the Field Marshal.

The Roll of Honour Trophy for setting a national record was awarded to Hamza Asif, adding a memorable highlight to the closing ceremony.

The successful conclusion of the National Games once again underlined the power of sports to bring people together, build character, and strengthen national pride.
