According to reports, Lahore, Pattoki, Narowal and surrounding areas experienced heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and hail. The sudden weather change significantly reduced temperatures that had been soaring during a prolonged heatwave.
Prior to the rain, strong winds were reported across Lahore, leading to incidents of fallen trees and damaged electricity poles in several localities. Power outages were also reported in parts of the city.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued an alert predicting further rainfall in Islamabad and various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the next few hours. The Met Office said Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree and nearby regions may receive showers after experiencing intense daytime heat.
Meanwhile, rainfall with strong winds was also recorded in Karak and adjoining areas, contributing to a noticeable drop in temperature.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a weather alert warning of stormy rains and hailstorms in the upper districts of Malakand and Hazara divisions.
The PDMA said areas including Chitral, Dir, Swat and Abbottabad may face heavy rain, hail, landslides and flash flooding risks. It further warned that strong winds and rain could also affect Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Kohat, Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan, urging authorities to remain on high alert.
