In a statement posted on his official X account, he said that citizens are already facing severe inflation, unemployment, and economic hardship, and that heavy taxes and petroleum levies have further worsened daily life.

He stated that a small reduction in petrol prices is not sufficient and demanded that the government take practical steps to bring petrol prices down to Rs 225 per litre. He added that the impact of declining crude oil prices in the international market should be passed on to the public.

Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman also argued that following recent developments, including a reported agreement between Iran and the United States, global oil prices are showing a downward trend, creating justification for significant relief in petroleum prices.

He criticized the government for collecting heavy revenues through petroleum levies and other taxes, saying that consumers are not receiving the benefit of lower global prices. He demanded an immediate reduction in petroleum levies to provide relief to the public.

He further called for reductions in electricity and gas tariffs, stating that the middle and lower-income groups are under severe financial pressure due to rising costs.

The Jamaat-e-Islami leader proposed that petrol prices should be frozen for at least three years to ensure economic stability for both citizens and businesses, arguing that frequent price changes negatively impact industrial and commercial activity.

Criticizing government economic policies, he questioned how long the poor and middle class would continue to bear the burden of taxes and financial pressure. He said providing relief to the public is the responsibility of the state and urged immediate and effective action.

He also appealed to the public, especially youth, to actively participate in the June 19 protests and raise their voice against inflation, high fuel prices, and increasing utility bills.

According to Jamaat-e-Islami, the purpose of the nationwide protests is to highlight public grievances and increase pressure on the government to reduce the prices of petrol, electricity, and gas.
