A high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was held to review the rapidly evolving regional situation and assess fuel conservation and austerity measures.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Field Marshal Asim Munir and National Security Adviser Lieutenant General Muhammad Asim Malik.
During the briefing, officials informed participants that the country currently has sufficient petroleum reserves to meet domestic needs, and further arrangements are being made to ensure continued supply.
However, instability in the Middle East and the wider region may disrupt fuel supply chains, necessitating precautionary measures.
Authorities highlighted that in view of potential challenges, additional fuel conservation and austerity measures will need to be implemented in the coming days.
The prime minister directed that a comprehensive strategy be developed in coordination with provincial governments to effectively handle any emergency situation.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that adopting a policy of conservation and austerity has already helped provide relief to the public, adding that the elite must set an example by embracing sacrifice and responsible consumption.
The meeting was also informed that implementation of the prime minister’s directives is being ensured, while the Intelligence Bureau is monitoring the situation.
According to the official statement, the public has been advised to promote carpooling, avoid unnecessary travel, and limit movement to conserve fuel and help prevent any potential shortage.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to remain fully prepared to tackle all possible scenarios and to adapt its strategy in line with evolving circumstances.
