In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Hafiz Naeem-Ur-Rehman said that international crude oil prices have fallen below $70 per barrel, and the government should pass on the full benefit of this decline to the public without delay.

He said the public should not be deprived of relief by using oil marketing companies as a justification.

According to him, a significant reduction in petrol and diesel prices is essential if the government wants to revive economic activity and ease the financial burden on citizens.

The Jamaat-e-Islami chief also called for the abolition of the petroleum levy, urging the government to ensure that the full impact of lower global oil prices is reflected in domestic fuel prices.

He further demanded that public transport fares and the prices of essential commodities be brought back to pre-war levels, while the economic damage caused by expensive fuel should be addressed without delay.

Hafiz Naeem-Ur-Rehman stressed that providing meaningful relief to the public is the government s fundamental responsibility.
