The operation was carried out within the jurisdiction of Thana Miryan in Bannu.
According to the CPO, security forces also recovered a 10-kilogram improvised explosive device (IED), which was safely defused during the operation.
One police official was injured in the exchange and shifted to hospital for treatment.
Authorities said the operation began early in the morning, with modern drones and advanced surveillance technology used to monitor militant movement during the raid.
Zulfiqar Hameed said operations against militants would continue, adding that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police remained on the front line in protecting public life and property.
He said every attack by enemies of the state would receive a decisive response.
The operation came days after security forces killed 23 militants, including a ring leader identified as Jan Meer alias Toor Saqib, during intelligence-based operations in Datta Khel, Spinwam and Bannu, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Pakistan has witnessed a rise in militant attacks, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since the Afghan Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan in 2021.
Islamabad has repeatedly urged the Afghan Taliban administration to prevent militant groups from using Afghan territory to launch attacks inside Pakistan.
Pakistan launched Operation Ghazab lil-Haq earlier this year following escalating tensions and cross-border attacks along the frontier with Afghanistan.
