According to the FO, Anand is visiting at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and will hold bilateral talks covering the full spectrum of Pakistan-Canada relations.
The discussions will focus on enhancing cooperation in trade and investment, education, and people-to-people exchanges, while the two sides will also exchange views on regional and global developments of mutual interest.
During her stay, the Canadian foreign minister is also scheduled to call on Pakistan s leadership.
The FO said Anand s visit is her first to Pakistan since assuming office and reflects the two countries commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.
Separately, the Canadian government said the visit forms part of Ottawa s efforts to deepen strategic partnerships in the Indo-Pacific region.
It described the trip as a significant milestone in bilateral relations, noting that it is the first visit by a Canadian foreign minister to Pakistan in almost 20 years.
Canada highlighted the strong people-to-people links between the two countries, with more than 300,000 Canadians of Pakistani origin living in Canada and around 20,000 Canadians residing in Pakistan.
According to the Canadian government, bilateral merchandise trade reached approximately $1.2 billion in 2025, including Canadian exports to Pakistan worth $499.7 million, an increase of 65% compared with 2024, while imports from Pakistan stood at $696 million.
The statement also noted that Canada hosted the second round of negotiations on a Foreign Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement (FIPA) with Pakistan in June 2026, underscoring ongoing efforts to expand economic cooperation between the two countries.
