According to security sources, the operation was launched in the area between Jhao Cross and Kararo after intelligence reports indicated the presence of armed militants blocking the highway and allegedly extorting money from travelers and local residents.
Acting on credible intelligence, security forces carried out a swift and targeted operation against the militants. The exchange of fire resulted in the deaths of 19 militants, while several others sustained injuries.
Officials said the troops encountered heavy resistance during the operation. Despite the fierce gun battle, the security forces successfully neutralized the militants positions. However, 11 brave soldiers laid down their lives in defense of the nation, paying the ultimate sacrifice during the operation.
A clearance operation is currently underway in the area to eliminate any remaining threats. Security forces are also conducting search operations to locate suspected facilitators and militants who managed to flee the scene.
Authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to continuing counterterrorism operations across the region to ensure the safety of civilians and maintain peace and stability.
