In Multan’s Bahauddin Zakariya University, the Chairman of the Department of Forestry and Range Management, Professor Dr. Ehsan Qadir, has been suspended immediately after serious allegations were made against him. The action was taken when a female Assistant Professor from the same department accused him of assault, physical violence, harassment, and threats to her life.
According to the FIR, the Assistant Professor stated that on September 25, 2025, around 10 or 11 a.m., Dr. Qadir called her to his office, locked the door from inside, and attempted to assault her. When she resisted repeatedly, he allegedly beat her and threatened to kill her.
She initially remained silent due to fear and shame but eventually came forward after enduring ongoing mental stress, humiliation, and a lack of justice. She submitted a written complaint to the university administration and filed a formal case at DHA Multan Police Station.
According to the university’s spokesperson, Professor Dr. Tahir Mehmood, the complaint was received on September 30 at noon, and an emergency meeting of the harassment committee was convened at 2 p.m. However, the accused professor could not attend as he was reportedly out of town. Considering the gravity of the matter, the administration decided to suspend him immediately.
The university’s legal department issued a notification the same day, stating that under the BZU Act 1975** and Amended Act 2012, the Vice-Chancellor had suspended Dr. Ehsan Qadir and removed him from his position as department chairman. The notification, signed by the registrar, was circulated to the Pro-Chancellor, Syndicate members, Deans, and the Harassment Committee.
