According to Indian media reports the Federation of Western India Cine Employees has announced strict action against Ranveer Singh and called on industry workers not to cooperate with him until the matter is resolved.
The dispute began after filmmaker Farhan Akhtar’s production company filed a complaint claiming that Ranveer Singh suddenly exited the project despite extensive preparations already being completed.
FWICE adviser Ashok Pandit said Farhan Akhtar officially submitted a complaint on April 11 stating that crores of rupees had already been spent on the film before the actor withdrew only three days before shooting.
Reports say producer Ritesh Sidhwani appeared before the federation office while Farhan Akhtar joined through a video call from London to present their position.
According to the production house around 450 million Indian rupees had already been spent on pre production hotel bookings promotional work and overseas travel arrangements for more than 200 workers. The company is now reportedly demanding compensation from Ranveer Singh for the financial losses.
Ashok Pandit also claimed that repeated attempts to contact Ranveer Singh were ignored. However on May 23 the actor’s secretary reportedly sent an email stating that the matter did not fall under the federation’s authority.
FWICE president BN Tiwari strongly reacted to the response and stated that no superstar is above industry rules. He announced that until Ranveer Singh personally appears before the federation no cameraman technician or spot boy linked with the organisation across India will work with him.
Following the controversy Ranveer Singh’s spokesperson released a statement saying the actor has deep respect for the film industry and everyone associated with the Don franchise. The statement added that Ranveer has chosen to remain silent because he believes professional matters should be handled with maturity dignity and mutual respect.
Reports also claim that Ranveer Singh had signed a three film agreement with the company and had already participated in script discussions and promotional shoots for Don 3.
Earlier reports suggested that Ranveer decided to leave the project in 2025 because he was unhappy with repeated script changes and delays in production.
Farhan Akhtar also commented in a recent interview saying that no film should be considered final until it is fully completed.
