Situated in Mumbai’s iconic seaside neighborhood of Juhu, the eatery has gained fame not just for Kohli’s celebrity name, but for its astonishingly high food prices. A simple tandoori roti is priced at ₹118, plain rice at ₹318, and the legendary Lucknowi dum biryani at ₹978.

The restaurant occupies the very bungalow that once belonged to renowned Indian playback singer Kishore Kumar. In 2022, Kohli transformed this historic residence, known as Gauri Kunj, into a modern-day café, blending music, cricket, and culinary delights into one immersive experience.

Every wall, every melody, and every flavor here tells a story—some echoing Kishore Kumar’s timeless legacy, others celebrating the obsession and passion of “Kohli mania.”

While preserving the bungalow’s old-world charm, the space has been redesigned with contemporary architecture, glass ceilings, and warm, inviting lighting. The atmosphere feels less like a formal restaurant and more like a welcoming home, where patrons can casually sip coffee or spend time with friends in comfort.

In a video released on One Eat Commune Juhu’s official YouTube channel, Kohli expressed his admiration for Kishore Kumar. If I could meet one person in the world, it would be Kishore da. His personality and artistry always touch the heart, he said. Out of this deep respect, Kohli chose to preserve the singer’s home rather than erase it—creating a space that celebrates memories, music, and flavorful cuisine in perfect harmony.

Kohli has also shared that he prefers spaces that remain open throughout the day. The kitchen here is open from morning to night, and we also host events. We aim to keep the restaurant atmosphere warm and enjoyable at all times, he explained in another video.

Food delivery platform Zomato notes that the prices at Juhu indeed feel like cricket scores, reflecting Kohli’s own sporting legacy.

The restaurant’s name itself draws inspiration from Kohli’s jersey number, 18. But according to him, it’s more than just a business—it’s a community space where people can connect, converse, listen to music, and enjoy life.

While One Eat Commune has now expanded to Delhi, Gurgaon, Kolkata, Bangalore, Pune, Indore, and Jaipur, the Juhu branch remains the most memorable and emotionally significant. It stands as a tribute to Kishore Kumar’s golden era, revived in a contemporary and vibrant way.
