Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, delivering his 13th budget speech, announced that no new taxes have been introduced in the budget, describing it as a relief-oriented financial plan for citizens and the business community. He also announced an allocation of Rs 750 billion for development projects.

The chief minister said the budget reflects the government’s commitment to public welfare, poverty reduction, and inclusive growth. He added that the province is presenting the budget at a time when the global economy is facing uncertainty due to geopolitical tensions, disruptions in international trade, and inflationary pressures.

During the session, opposition members created uproar over the proceedings and later staged a walkout. Opposition Leader Ali Khurshidi stated that urban Sindh has not been properly represented in the budget.

Prior to the budget presentation, a provincial cabinet meeting chaired by Murad Ali Shah approved the budget. The meeting was attended by provincial ministers, advisers, special assistants, the chief secretary, secretaries, and senior officials. The cabinet reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive governance, poverty reduction, and public welfare.

According to the government, special measures have been included in the budget on the directives of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, including support for workers through an increase in the minimum wage.

Murad Ali Shah said the government will continue to serve the people of Sindh with renewed commitment and increased effort in the new fiscal year, adding that poverty alleviation remains a key priority under the leadership of the PPP.

It is worth noting that Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb had earlier presented the federal budget for FY 2026–27 worth Rs 18.77 trillion, focusing on relief for salaried individuals, revival of industries, promotion of investment, and export-led growth targets.
